Ziyu Wu set a 1:38.77 Asian record 7x7 mean (ranked 3rd in the world), and 1:33.60 Chinese National record 7x7 single (ranked 5th in the world) at Beijing Autumn Rivalry 2026, in Beijing, China.
Wu improved the Asian record mean by 0.55 seconds, beating his own 1:39.32 set at Wuhan Golden Autumn 2026.
Wu improved the Chinese national record single by 0.12 seconds, narrowly beating his own 1:33.72 set at Guangzhou Big Cubes 2026.
Just a few weeks ago, Wu was the third person and the first Asian to get a sub-1:40 7x7 mean at Wuhan Golden Autumn 2026.
The round Wu achieved this record in was only the first round of a large Chinese competition. Top international competitors Tymon Kolasiński, Timofei Tarasenko, and Seung Hyuk Nahm are in attendance. More rounds remain in 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7. Wu and Tarasenko are also worth watching in Megaminx, where Tarasenko ranks first in the world by average and Wu ranks second. Wu holds the world record single.
The field also includes nine of the world’s top 10 3x3 solvers by average. Will it be Yiheng Wang or Xuanyi Geng who takes the gold in this notable competition? The competition spans from Thursday, October 1st, until Saturday, October 3rd.
