Xuanyi Geng set a 2.51 3x3 single world record at Guangzhou Grand Open 2026. He beat Teodor Zajder’s 2.76 world record by 0.25 seconds.
His five solves were: (2.51), 3.99, 3.21, 4.42, (4.75).
Geng first held the single world record with a 3.05 at Shenyang Spring 2025. Zajder took it with a 2.76 at GLS Big Cubes Gdańsk 2026, the first to break the three-second barrier.
The record comes just weeks after his Monkey League Season 6 final loss in New York. Geng led Yiheng Wang 4-1 before Wang won four straight sets to take the title. Geng still pushed the match to its final possible solve, but finished one race short of the championship.
This competition has drawn a strong field, with Wang, Tymon Kolasiński and Yunzhi Lian among those registered. Yize Dong has already made headlines there with a 4.07 average and 3.15 single.
The single record has come a long way since Yusheng Du’s 3.47 at Wuhu Open 2018. Max Park lowered it to 3.13 in 2023, followed by Wang’s 3.08 and Geng’s 3.05 in 2025. Zajder brought it below three seconds this year. Geng has now brought it within 0.01 seconds of 2.5 seconds.
