The United States School Cubing League is joining the Scholastic Cube League, bringing its school-team head-to-head competition into the organization launched by WCA founder Tyson Mao.
USSCL Season 4 will become the inaugural SCL Circuit season. Its student leaders will continue to operate the competition, while SCL provides organizational support and guidance.
This announcement follows our coverage of SCL’s launch last month. That launch introduced a school-based team competition program, with an inaugural national championship planned for May 15–16, 2027, in Las Vegas. The merger brings an existing league and its student organizers into that effort.
Mao said the two leadership teams have been working together on a competition platform, rules, school registration and the systems needed to run the season. SCL also plans to offer students beyond the current USSCL leadership opportunities to help organize competitions, communicate with schools and build partnerships.
For USSCL founder Ekansh Agrawal, the move marks another step for a league that began with a post on the WCA forum.
“I am incredibly excited for SCL Circuit, as we now have even greater opportunity to reach cubers across the country,” Agrawal said in the announcement.
Keeping students involved in running the league is part of Mao’s broader goal for school cubing. In the announcement, he pointed to his experience on the WCA board, where he came to see leadership opportunities as potentially just as meaningful as competition results.
USSCL’s previous seasons and results will remain available on its results website.
