Ziyu Wu Breaks Megaminx World Record Single, Adds Asian Record Average
Wu records a 21.04 Megaminx single and 24.61 average, moving to the top of the world for single and second all-time for average.
Ziyu Wu broke the Megaminx world record single at Quanzhou Summer 2026, recording a 21.04 in the first round.
The solve improves on Timofei Tarasenko’s previous world record of 21.85 from Start of Summer Beijing 2026. Wu had previously ranked third in the world for Megaminx single with a 22.70 from Guangdong Revival & Rival 2026.
Wu then added a 24.61 Asian record average in the final, with solves of (28.81), 24.38, (21.55), 23.08, and 26.38.
The average moves Wu to second in the world for Megaminx average, behind only Tarasenko’s 24.38 world record from Tashkent Open 2025. Wu had already been No. 2 in the world with a 24.76 average from Guangzhou Special 2025, but the 24.61 closes the gap at the top of the event even further.
The result also strengthens China’s position near the top of Megaminx. Wu now owns the world record single and sits second all-time in average, placing him among the few competitors pushing the event under the 25-second barrier.
Wu won the final with the 24.61 average, completing one of the strongest Megaminx performances of the season.
