Dan Smith has been appointed WCA Executive Director after previously serving as the WCA’s acting Chief Operating Officer. According to the WCA, the appointment better reflects Smith’s leadership across WCA volunteers and aligns the role with the organization’s governance documents. The WCA also noted that there is no change to Smith’s day-to-day duties and responsibilities.
Abdullah Gulab has been appointed WCA Chair. Gulab previously served as WCA Treasurer and WCA Vice-Chair.

The WCA also announced several additional officer appointments. Oliver Hexter has been appointed WCA Secretary, Sachin Arvind has been appointed WCA Treasurer, and Glib Vedmid and Rubén López de Juan have been appointed WCA Vice-Chairs.
Nick Silvestri has vacated the WCA Chair position, while Blake Thompson has vacated the WCA Secretary position as their Board terms approach their end. The WCA thanked both Silvestri and Thompson for their service through their Director and Officer roles.
Officer roles are formal legal positions connected to running the WCA as a nonprofit organization. The changes update the organization’s officer structure while keeping Smith’s operational responsibilities unchanged.
