[WATCH] Brendyn Dunagan Saves Clock Final Spot With 2.18 at NAC 2026
The reigning North American Clock champion delivered a 2.18 on his final solve of the clock semifinals to earn his spot in the final.
Brendyn Dunagan entered the final solve of the Clock semifinal at the 2026 North American Championship with little room for error.
The reigning North American Clock champion opened with a DNF, then followed with back-to-back four-second solves of 4.04 and 4.07. A 3.10 on solve four kept his final hopes alive, but it still left him needing a strong fifth solve to move safely into finals.
With his back against the wall, Dunagan posted a 2.18 on his final solve of the semifinals to earn his chance to defend his title.
Watch the 2.18-second solve below:
Because Clock uses an average of five format, Dunagan’s opening DNF was dropped as the worst result. His 2.18 was then dropped as the fastest result, leaving 3.10, 4.04, and 4.07 as his counting solves.
That gave him a 3.74 average, moving him to 11th place in the round and safely into the final.
This year’s championship carries added historical significance after the WCA announced that Clock will be retired following the 2027 World Championship.
That makes NAC 2026 the final North American Championship before Clock enters its last official season.
For Dunagan, the semi-final round was far from clean. But with his final attempt, he turned a difficult start into one of the most dramatic Clock saves of the championship so far.
