Timofei Tarasenko set three world records at Beijing Autumn Rivalry 2026, held Oct. 1-3 in Beijing, China. He recorded a 1:01.76 6x6 mean, then broke both 7x7 records with a 1:27.47 single and 1:35.93 mean.
Tarasenko’s 7x7 single leaves Max Park with just one remaining WCA world record: his 57.69 6x6 single. Park set his first big-cube world records in 2018 and spent much of the next eight years setting the times everyone else chased. Seeing him hold just one record is a major shift.
A 6x6 Record for Tarasenko, a Win for Kolasiński
Tarasenko opened with the 6x6 mean record in the first round on Oct. 1. His solves were: 1:02.64, 1:01.63 and 1:01.00
This cut 1.87 seconds from his previous record of 1:03.63, set at Kuala Lumpur Cubing Challenge 2026 in August.
Seung Hyuk Nahm also set an Asian record single of 1:00.08 in the opening round.
The final went to Tymon Kolasiński, who won with a 1:06.03 mean. His 59.84 single set a Polish national record. Tarasenko finished second with 1:06.87, followed by Nahm with 1:11.80.
Two World Records in the 7x7 Final
Tarasenko added both 7x7 records in the final on Oct. 2. His 1:27.47 single beat Max Park’s 1:30.59 record by 3.12 seconds.
Alongside solves of 1:37.95 and 1:42.37, it produced a 1:35.93 mean. That lowered Tarasenko’s own record by 0.87 seconds, less than a week after he set 1:36.80 at Hanoi Big Cubes 2026.
Nahm finished second with a 1:44.28 mean and set a Korean national record single of 1:35.28. Ziyu Wu completed the podium with 1:44.41. Wu had led the first round with a 1:38.77 Asian record mean and a 1:33.60 Chinese national record single.
Tarasenko also won 4x4 with a 19.02 Russian national record average and Megaminx with 24.31. Kolasiński won 5x5 with a 34.11 average.
Geng Posts Pure Sub-4 Averge, Wang Wins 3x3
Xuanyi Geng led the first round of 3x3 with a 3.70 average. All five solves were under four seconds: 3.80, (3.25), (3.95), 3.74 and 3.57.
Geng also led the semifinal with 4.27, but Yiheng Wang won the final with a 4.26 average. Geng finished second with 4.33, just 0.07 seconds behind, while Yi Shen placed third with 4.41.
