Timofei Tarasenko Becomes Fourth Person to Record Sub-20 4x4 Average
Tarasenko records a 19.61 average, moving to third in the world

Timofei Tarasenko recorded a 19.61 4x4 average at Chengdu Welcoming Summer 2026, becoming the fourth person ever to record a sub-20 average in official WCA competition.
The result moves Tarasenko to third in the world for 4x4 average, behind Tymon Kolasiński’s 18.56 and Max Park’s 18.74. It also moves him ahead of reigning world champion Sebastian Weyer, whose best WCA average is 19.63.
Tarasenko’s average came from solves of (21.48), 18.03, (17.17), 20.25, and 20.55. The result also set a new Russian national record.
Tarasenko’s previous personal best average was 20.14, set at Uzbekistan Nationals 2025. At the 2025 World Championship, he finished second in 4x4 behind Weyer with a 20.40 average, needing a 21.89 or faster on his final solve to win the title. His final solve was his slowest of the average, placing him second while also setting a Russian national record at the time.
Tarasenko also set a personal best in 3x3 at the competition, recording a 3.58 single. The result improves on his previous personal best of 3.72 from Warm Up Seattle 2025 and moves him into the top 20 in the world for 3x3 single.
