Theo Goulboff Records South America’s First Sub-2 7x7 Mean
Goulboff’s 1:58.74 mean at SAC 2026 marks the first sub-2 7x7 mean ever recorded by a South American competitor.
Theo Goulboff became the first South American competitor to record a sub-2:00 7x7 mean, posting a 1:58.74 at SAC 2026.
The Argentine speedcuber recorded the result in the final round with solves of 1:58.45, 1:55.06, and 2:02.70. His 1:55.06 single was also a continental record.
The milestone is even more striking because no other South American competitor has recorded a sub-2:00 7x7 single, let alone a sub-2:00 mean.
The result is a major milestone for South American big cube solving. Before this, the continental record mean stood at 2:04.15, set by Goulboff earlier this year at MilaNxNesas en La MataNxNza 2026.
Goulboff entered the final after winning the first round with a 2:06.55 mean. He then improved by nearly eight seconds in the final to secure the win and the first sub-2 mean ever recorded by a South American competitor.
The performance adds to an already strong South American Championship record for Goulboff. At Rubik’s WCA South American Championship 2024, he won 7x7 with a 2:15.18 mean and also won 5x5 with a 46.12 average. He added a 3x3 one-handed title with a 10.18 average and placed second in 4x4 with a 28.45 average.
Goulboff was also a multi-event podium finisher at South American Championship 2022. He won 6x6 with a 1:42.18 mean, placed second in 7x7 with a 2:30.52 mean, second in 4x4 with a 29.11 average, second in Square-1 with an 11.97 average, and third in both 3x3 one-handed and Megaminx.
At SAC 2026, Goulboff also won 5x5 and 6x6, recording a 45.71 average in 5x5 and a 1:18.66 continental record mean in 6x6.
