Rhoades Takes Iowa’s First State Title
Brody Rhoades finished with a 7.30 average at Iowa Championship 2026, making him the top Iowa resident and the state’s first 3x3 champion.
Nathan Phillips won the overall final with 6.90. Brian Johnson, who entered with the fastest personal best, placed second at 7.26.
Rhoades also took second in 5x5 with 49.49 and 6x6 with a 1:32.56 mean. Johnson won five events, including Square-1 with a 6.36 average.
Borromeo Wins Three in Visayas
Leo Borromeo defended his 3x3 title at Visayas Championship 2026 in Cebu, winning the final with a 5.78 average and a 4.71 single. Shedeur A. Bhatkal finished second with an 8.98 personal best average.
Borromeo also won 4x4 with 25.08 and 5x5 with 49.52. His 4x4 average did not match the 20.81 national record he set at last year’s championship, but it was enough to finish ahead of Miguel Gonzaga, who took second at 32.59.
Golub Wins Ukrainian Nationals
Lev Golub moved up from last year’s runner-up finish to win 3x3 at Ukrainian Nationals 2026 in Lviv. His 7.00 average beat Vladyslav Hryniuk at 7.35 and Ostap Bukatiuk at 8.18.
Hryniuk defended his 5x5 title with a 49.96 average. He also won 4x4, 6x6, 7x7, and Megaminx. Bukatiuk added a 2.21 Ukrainian national record Pyraminx average.
Kao Breaks Three Singapore Records
Emmanuel Kao set three national records at Singapore Polytechnic September Showdown 2026.
He averaged 23.06 in 4x4 and recorded a 1:08.28 mean in 6x6, both in the second round. In the 6x6 final, he added a 1:01.23 national record single. Kao won both events.
