The Weekend Wrap: May 15-17, 2026
Square-1 World record, UK national records, and a Wild Card opening in the PSL Championship race
Records and storylines hit across both WCA competition and the PSL Pro Tour this weekend. Brian Johnson set a new Square-1 world record single in Evanston, Caleb Wolf Dunn and Daniel Partridge pushed UK speedcubing forward with major national records, and Dylan Miller’s PSL Seattle win activated a Wild Card spot for the 2026 PSL Championship.
Welcome back to the Speedcuber’s Digest Weekend Wrap, where we look at the most significant results and storylines from this past weekend.
Brian Johnson - 2.85 Square-1 WR Single
Brian Johnson set a new Square-1 world record single at Evanston Qualifier 2026, recording a 2.85 on the first solve of the round.
Johnson then completed the average with solves of (2.85), 4.39, (9.36), 6.40, and 5.23, giving him a 5.34 average. The average was also a personal best and moved him to seventh in the world for Square-1 average.
The result adds another world record to Johnson’s recent run. Earlier this year, he set the 3x3 Fewest Moves world record mean with a 19.00 at Evanston FMC Spring 2026, also held at Northwestern University’s Technological Institute in Evanston, Illinois.
Johnson has now set world records in two different events in Evanston this year, adding Square-1 single to his earlier Fewest Moves mean record.
UK Records - Caleb Wolf Dunn and Daniel Partridge
The United Kingdom also had a major record weekend, with Caleb Wolf Dunn setting a new UK 3x3 average record and Daniel Partridge becoming the first UK cuber to break the 1.50 Pyraminx average barrier.
Dunn recorded a 5.44 3x3 average at Weston-super-Mare Spring 2026, with solves of 5.92, (4.98), 5.20, 5.19, and (6.00). The result moved him to seventh in Europe and 38th in the world for 3x3 average.
The average was especially notable because Dunn’s 3x3 single personal best is 4.90, meaning his new national record average is only 0.54 seconds slower than his fastest official single.
Dunn also holds UK national records in Clock, with a 2.00 single from Wiltshire Winter 2025 and a 2.68 average from the 2025 World Championship. At Worlds, the 2.68 average won the first round and set the UK record, but Dunn finished 21st in the second round and missed the final.
Partridge added another UK national record at Darlington Spring 2026, recording a 1.45 Pyraminx average in the final. His average came from solves of 1.47, (1.32), 1.43, 1.46, and (2.64), moving him to second in Europe and eighth in the world.
The previous UK Pyraminx average record, a 1.52 from Stevenage June 2024, had stood for nearly two years. Partridge also holds UK national records in 6x6 single and 7x7 single and mean, continuing to build one of the country’s strongest all-around résumés.

Dylan Miller - PSL Seattle Pro Division Winner
Dylan Miller won the Premier Speedcubing League Seattle 2026 Pro Division, defeating Sameer Aggarwal in the Grand Final.
Miller went undefeated through the bracket, beating William Greninger 3-0 in the winners semifinal, Aggarwal 2-1 in the winners final, and Aggarwal again 3-0 for the title.
The result also activates a Wild Card spot for the 2026 PSL Championship on October 25 in Las Vegas. Since Miller had already qualified by winning an earlier Pro Tour stop, his Seattle win leaves an unused qualification spot, which now moves to the Wild Card process.
Đỗ Quang Hưng entered the event as one of the main names expected to challenge Miller, with many viewing a Miller-Đỗ Quang matchup as one of the most likely finals scenarios. That match never happened after Đỗ Quang lost in the first round due to not starting the timer, sending him into the lower bracket early.
Đỗ Quang still made one of the most notable runs of the event, defeating William Greninger and Zhouheng Sun in the lower bracket before losing to Aggarwal in the losers final. Aggarwal finished second, while Đỗ Quang finished third.
Miller’s Seattle win adds another Pro Division title to his season, while the Wild Card process gives one more competitor a path into the PSL Championship.

Out of the top 100 by average, Caleb wolf Dunn has the second closest PR single to avg ratio, only beaten by fellow UKer Monty Fox, 5.35 single and 5.86 avg. Funny coincidence, the former second place holder who is now moved to third bc of Caleb was Brain Johnson, with 4.61 and 5.20. Funny bc Brian is mentioned in this article for is Squan WR
