The Weekend Wrap: April 24-26, 2026
A Wild Week Full of World Records & New Faces in the #1 Spot

What a weekend it was! Records smashed and history made across the world! Welcome, Speedcuber’s Digest readers, to the first Weekly Recap of the year, where we look back at the most significant results over this past weekend’s events.
Xuanyi Geng - 3.71 WR 3x3 Average & 2.80 WR2 Single
It would be impossible to talk about this past weekend without mentioning this result. In the face of mounting pressure and a BPA barrier to cross, Geng pulled off the best time of his career, furthering the lead he built against Yiheng Wang in the battle of the Chinese prodigies for the top spot in the world.
In addition to his average, Geng scored a 2.80 on his final solve to clinch the record, an AsR single that sits in 2nd place in the world behind Teodor Zajder’s 2.76 from earlier this year.
And speaking of the bucket hat-wearing kid from Poland…
Teodor Zajder - 4.41 ER 3x3 Average
What an impressive result from Teodor! Adding onto the already-great year he’s been having, Zajder leapt ahead of Tymon Kolasinski on the European leaderboard with this average, moving him to fourth in the world behind Yufang Du, Yiheng Wang, and Xuanyi Geng.
Coincidentally, the location of this competition (Gdansk, Poland) is also where he recorded his world record single of 2.76. It seems that whenever Zajder finds himself in Gdansk, crazy results are sure to happen.
Karl Abarquez - 1.84 AsR Clock Single
Rounding out the list of significant winning results from this past weekend, Karl Abarquez made a slight improvement on his AsR clock single, going from 1.89 to 1.84 at Greenwoods Summer Overtime in the Philippines.
He still has a bit of work to do if he wants to break into the top-4 for single, however: Abarquez’s time sits in 5th place in the world behind Volodymyr Kapustianskyi, whose PR is .2 seconds faster than Abarquez’s. Time will tell if he can make the leap to the most elite solvers of the clock event.
