Tymon Kolasińsk, Yiheng Wang and Xuanyi Geng are on the lists for two competitions in China. Sydney adds an overall Decathalon title across 10 events, while Estonia and Croatia hold their national championships.
Welcome back to the Speedcuber’s Digest Weekend Preview, where we look ahead at the potential storylines going into the weekend.
Tymon joins Wang and Geng, Head to Beijing, Then Guangzhou
Beijing Autumn Rivalry 2026 runs October 1-3, ans includes Yiheng Wang, Xuanyi Geng and Poland’s Tymon Kolasiński. Wang holds the 3x3 average world record at 3.51 seconds. Geng’s best is 3.67, and Kolasiński’s is 4.49.
All three are also registered for Guangzhou Grand Open 2026, which takes place Monday and Tuesday, October 5-6. Yunzhi Lian is registered there, too. She won Guangzhou GraDUAL 3x3 IV earlier this month with a 4.27 average, the fastest 3x3 average by a female competitor. This record has recently drawn significant media attention.
Sydney Adds a 10-Event Title
Sydney Cubing Decathlon 2026 runs October 2-4. Alongside the regular events, competitors can earn an additional overall decathlon title. To qualify, they must register for and attempt all 10 events.
The schedule starts Friday with FMC and Multi-Blind, then moves through 3x3, 2x2, 5x5, Clock, Megaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb and Square-1 over the weekend. Organizers will award points for each competitor’s best round in every event, using averages for most events and points from the Multi-Blind attempt. The highest combined score wins the decathlon.
Estonian Championship
The 18th Estonian Championship takes place October 3-4 in Tallinn. Defending 3x3 champion Kaur Tuule leads the field with a 6.22 personal-best average. Switzerland’s Alwin Rölz is close behind at 6.31. The next Estonian on the list, Remo Pihel, has a 7.90 best.
That 1.68-second gap between Tuule and Pihel makes Tuule the strong favorite for another Estonian title. The overall win looks much closer: only 0.09 seconds separate Tuule and Rölz by personal best. Tuule won last year’s overall final with a 6.70 average.
Croatia’s National Title Race
Croatian Championship 2026 returns to Petrinja on October 3-4. Italy’s Daniel Sartori leads the 3x3 field by personal-best average at 6.22. Serbia’s Matej Marčok follows at 7.34, just ahead of Slovenia’s Oskar Vidiček at 7.37. Vidiček finished second overall at last year’s championship with an 8.14 average.
The Croatian title is a closer race. Lana Bedek leads the registered Croatians with a 7.48 national record best average. Defending champion David Vujasić and Jakov Srečković are tied at 8.06, followed by Toni Sekula at 8.79. Last year Vujasić took the national title with 8.77, ahead of Bedek at 9.02 and Srečković at 9.05. Bedek now has the fastest best in the local field, but the three finished within 0.28 seconds of one another in last year’s final.
This year’s rules reserve at least six places in each final for Croatian competitors. The overall and national 3x3 winners could be different people again.
