The Weekend Preview: June 26-28, 2026
Highlighting competitions from around the world of speedcubing.
The weekend’s most interesting fields bring together the top of 3x3 in Bali, a proven championship medalist in Taipei, and several leading North American quiet-event competitors ahead of NAC.
Bali Discovery Speedcubing Master 2026
Bali Discovery Speedcubing Master 2026 takes place June 27-28 in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, at Discovery Mall.
The biggest storyline is an elite 3x3 field featuring Yiheng Wang, Xuanyi Geng, and Qixian Cao.
Wang enters as the reigning world champion and the new 3x3 average world record holder after recording a 3.51 at Hefei Cubing League 3x3 III 2026.
Geng previously held the world record with a 3.71 average and remains one of the strongest current 3x3 competitors in the world. Putting Wang and Geng in the same field creates another opportunity to see the two fastest average holders compete directly.
Qixian Cao, female world record holder, gives the field another high-level contender capable of challenging the two favorites and adding depth to what should be one of the weekend’s strongest 3x3 finals.
The competition also has a major big cube storyline with Lim Hung registered. Lim remains one of the top 6x6 and 7x7 competitors in the world and currently holds the 6x6 mean world record.
With Wang, Geng, and Cao in 3x3 and Lim across the larger events, Bali should be one of the clearest record-watch competitions of the weekend.
Taipei Cube Open 2026
Taipei Cube Open 2026 takes place June 27-28 in Taipei, Chinese Taipei, at the Everrich Taipei Downtown Store.
The biggest name to watch is Seung Hyuk Nahm, who is registered for 3x3, 3x3 One-Handed, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7.
Nahm has one of the strongest championship résumés in the field. He has earned World Championship podiums across 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7, including medals at the 2017, 2019, and 2023 editions.
He is especially dangerous in the larger events. Nahm previously held the 6x6 mean world record with a 1:06.46 at Daegu Cold Winter 2024, and his combination of championship experience and big cube speed makes him the clear favorite in Taipei.
Mid-Atlantic Quiet Championship 2026
Mid-Atlantic Quiet Championship 2026 takes place June 27-28 in Branchburg, New Jersey, at the Hyatt House Branchburg/Bridgewater.
The competition is dedicated to the quiet events: 3x3 Blindfolded, 4x4 Blindfolded, 5x5 Blindfolded, 3x3 Multi-Blind, and Fewest Moves.
Tommy Cherry, Rowe Hessler, and Chris Chi headline the field. All three are proven top-level quiet-event competitors, making this one of the most important NAC tune-ups of the weekend.
Cherry remains one of the biggest names in 3x3 Blindfolded and should be the central figure in that event. Hessler brings strength across the blindfolded schedule, while Chi gives the field another elite contender with major Fewest Moves experience.
The competition may have only 50 competitors, but the quality at the top makes it increasingly difficult to overlook. Quiet events could produce some of the most significant records and championship swings at NAC.
With North American Championship approaching, Branchburg gives several leading contenders one more opportunity to test execution, manage long-format events, and build confidence before the biggest competition of the summer.
