The 2x2 final opened with immediate speed from the top seeds, as Zayn Khanani broke the one-second barrier with a 0.91 and Brian Johnson followed closely with a 0.95.
Sujan took an early setback after a +2 penalty on his second solve turned a strong attempt into a 3.18, but he answered right back with a 1.05 to stay in the fight. Zayn responded with a clean 1.00, briefly taking control before Sujan reclaimed the lead with a 0.96 on solve four.
Zayn had a chance to take the win on his final solve, needing a 1.52, but a cube drop led to a 2.82 and ended his title push.
Alan Rivera Bañaga remained in the mix late, but a 1.71 on his fourth solve took him out of contention for the win. His final attempt ended in a DNF after a corner twist, leaving some confusion at the table before the standings were finalized.
That opened the door for Luke Garrett, who quietly stayed in podium position through the chaos. With the final standings adjusted, Garrett secured third place in North America by holding the better single, rounding out a podium decided by the smallest of margins.
Sujan’s victory capped off a chaotic and tightly contested 2x2 final, defined by constant lead changes, sub-second solves, and pressure across the entire top field.
