Seth Nasol Breaks 2x2 Sub-1 Barrier for Oceania
Nasol’s 0.98 average at Christchurch Winter 2026 broke Roman Rudakov’s 1.02 continental record from 2024 and moved them from 15th to first in the Oceanian rankings.
Seth Nasol has recorded the first official sub-1 2x2 average in Oceanian history.
Nasol recorded a 0.98 average in the 2x2 final at Christchurch Winter 2026:
0.93, 0.83, 1.17, (0.73), (1.25) = 0.98
The result breaks the previous Oceanian record of 1.02, set by Roman Rudakov at Melbourne Cube Days 2024.
It also represents a massive jump for Nasol individually. Entering the competition, their personal best was 1.44, set at New Zealand Nationals 2025. That result ranked 15th in Oceania.
With one average, Nasol improved their personal best by 0.46 seconds and jumped from 15th all the way to No. 1 in Oceania.
Nasol entered the final alongside several of New Zealand’s top 2x2 solvers. Connor Johnson, who previously held a 1.27 personal best, finished second with a 1.16 average, while China’s Yuki Gao placed third with 1.34.
But Nasol separated themself from the field by nearly two tenths of a second, becoming the first competitor representing Oceania to officially average below one second.
The 1.02 record had stood since 2024. Nasol’s 0.98 pushed Oceania through one of 2x2’s most significant statistical barriers for the first time.
