Nine 17-Move FMC Singles Recorded at More Than One Cube Shanghai
More Than One Cube Shanghai 2026 produced nine 17-move FMC singles, tying the Asian record and more than doubling the number of official 17s in WCA history.
More Than One Cube Shanghai 2026 produced one of the deepest Fewest Moves rounds in WCA history, with nine competitors recording 17-move singles in the 3x3 Fewest Moves final.
The 17-move results tied the Asian record for FMC single, a mark previously shared by Yiwei Liu and competitors from Indonesia and South Korea. Before the competition, only seven official 17-move singles had been recorded in WCA competition. More Than One Cube Shanghai 2026 added nine more in a single round, bringing the total to 16.

Jibo Zhao and Weijie Jian won the event with matching 21.00 means. Zhao’s attempts were 22, 17, and 24 moves, while Jian’s were 24, 17, and 22 moves.
The round also made Yiwei Liu the first competitor with more than one official sub-18 FMC single. Liu previously held the Asian record with a 17 from Tianjin Summer Solstice 2021, and added another 17 at More Than One Cube Shanghai 2026.
