Nachuan Sun won Quanzhou FMC Autumn 2026 with a 19.67 mean, a Chinese national record and world No. 3.
Sun’s attempts were 23, 18, and 18 moves. Another competitor, Baiqiang Dong, found an 18-move solution on the first scramble. Had Sun matched that result and kept his two 18s, he would have finished with an 18.00 mean, a full move below Brian Johnson’s 19.00 world record.
Dong followed his opening 18 with 25 and 23 moves to finish second with a 22.00 mean. Yiwei Liu was third with a 23.00, using exactly 23 moves on each attempt.
Sun finished first in every round at the competition. Before his national record in the final, he posted a 21.00 mean in the first round and a 21.33 in the second.
