In Episode 17, Michael Rosenkranz sits down with a legend, and cubing pioneer, Tyson Mao.
We discuss Tyson’s role in co-founding the World Cube Association, and his thoughts on what cubing should strive to be when WCA was being founded. We also talk about what Tyson values most about cubing, which is unfortunately a non-cubing-related aspect – his impact on the sport, and ability to give more people a chance to participate. Tyson tells us the story of cubing for The Pursuit of Happiness with Will Smith in 2006, and we move on to discuss the WCA, and whether he would change anything if he had the chance to do it all over again.
