Luke Garrett Wins Sixth Straight Great Lakes 3x3 Title
Garrett continues his Great Lakes Championship streak with a 5.57 average, eight years after finishing second at the first edition of the event.
Luke Garrett won the 3x3 title at CubingUSA Great Lakes Championship 2026, extending his Great Lakes Championship winning streak to six straight titles.
Garrett won the final with a 5.57 average, recording solves of (7.77), 6.45, (5.11), 5.13, and 5.14. His final three solves were his fastest of the average, allowing him to lock in late and pull away from the field. Luke Griesser finished second with a 5.92 average, while Jack Pfeifer placed third with a 6.88.
Garrett has been tied to the event since its beginning. At the first CubingUSA Great Lakes Championship in 2018, Andy Denney won 3x3 with an 8.62 average, while Garrett finished second with an 8.64 average. Brian Johnson placed third with an 8.65, making the first Great Lakes podium separated by just 0.03 seconds.
Since then, Garrett has taken control of the event’s 3x3 title race. His 2026 win marks his sixth consecutive Great Lakes Championship 3x3 title, turning a narrow runner-up finish at the first edition into one of the strongest regional championship streaks in the United States.
The result also serves as an early preview of the 3x3 race at the 2026 WCA North American Championship. Garrett enters NAC as one of the leading contenders and likely the third favorite behind Matty Hiroto Inaba and Max Park.
