Daniel Rush won 4x4, 5x5, 6x6 and 7x7 at the GAN WCA African Championship 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. It was a repeat of his sweep from the 2024 championship.
Rush set a 40.93 African record average in the first round of 5x5. In the 7x7 final, he added a 1:45.12 African record single and a 1:48.05 African record mean.
It is hard to argue against Rush as Africa’s best all-around cuber. Even before this weekend, his best 5x5, 6x6 and 7x7 singles all ranked in the world’s top 20.
But the 3x3 title went to Juandré Jacobs. Rush topped the first three rounds, then Jacobs won the final with a 7.35 average to Rush’s 7.52. Jacobs also set a 7.08 personal best average in the first round, which ranks him second in Africa behind Rush.
Rush also finished second overall in Square-1, third in Clock, fourth in Megaminx and fifth in 3x3 blindfolded. That gave him African silver in Square-1 and Clock, and African bronze in Megaminx and 3x3 blindfolded. He placed fifth overall in Pyraminx, too.
Jesse Osburn broke his own African Pyraminx average record twice. He posted 2.58 in the first round, then 2.54 in the final. Osburn finished second overall behind the Netherlands’ Caspar Switijnk, whose 2.19 average won the event, and took the African title.
