Daniel Rush Breaks Four African Big Cube Records in Glasgow
Rush set new African records for both single and mean in 6x6 and 7x7 at Farewell Strathclyde University 2026.
Daniel Rush recorded a major big cube weekend at Farewell Strathclyde University 2026, setting African records for both single and mean in 6x6 and 7x7.
In 6x6, Rush opened with a 1:05.86 single in the first round, setting a new African record. He later added a 1:15.03 African record mean in the final, with solves of 1:17.76, 1:10.25, and 1:17.09.
In 7x7, Rush recorded a 1:52.95 African record mean in the second round, with solves of 2:02.61, 1:48.72, and 1:47.51. The 1:47.51 single also set a new African record.
The results strengthen Rush’s position as one of Africa’s top big cube competitors. He currently holds South African national records across every standard cube size from 3x3 through 7x7.
Rush has also been one of the most successful championship competitors on the continent. At the 2024 African Championship, he won 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7, while also taking podiums in 2x2, Megaminx, and Square-1.
Farewell Strathclyde University 2026 was held June 27-30 in Glasgow, United Kingdom, at the Learning and Teaching Building at Strathclyde University. The competition marked the final event at a long-running UK venue after 32 competitions at Strathclyde.
