Caio Hideaki Sato Goes Back-to-Back at South American Championship
Sato defended his 3x3 title with a 6.11 average, becoming a two-time reigning South American champion and continuing his emergence as a serious world contender.
Caio Hideaki Sato has defended his South American 3x3 title.
The Brazilian speedcuber won the 3x3 final at WCA South American Championship 2026 with a 6.11 average, edging out Argentina’s Theo Goulboff, who finished second with a 6.26 average. Juan Miguel Saboya Soto of Colombia rounded out the podium with a 6.58 average.
Sato’s final was built on strong consistency, with counting solves of 6.26, 5.91, and 6.17, plus a 5.61 single that stood as his best solve of the round. The result matched the 6.11 average he used to win the South American title in 2024, giving him back-to-back continental 3x3 championships.
The repeat win is a major statement for Sato, who continues to emerge as a real contender beyond South America. His current 3x3 personal bests stand at 4.37 single and 5.44 average, both Brazilian national records, and his championship performance adds another high-pressure result to an already strong résumé.
With two straight South American crowns, Sato has moved from regional standout to one of the names worth watching in any major 3x3 field.
