Larrea nearly produced an even bigger result in the second round. His five solves were 0.67, 3.39, 2.09, 0.84, and 0.70, giving him a 1.21 average after the fastest and slowest solves were dropped. The 2.09 was the solve that kept the average from being much faster. Had that solve been closer to his other counting times, Larrea would have been on world-record pace.
Albert Mandicó Sampol also produced a major result at the competition, recording a 1.19 average in the second round to move to No. 2 in Spanish history and inside the world top 25 rankings.
Larrea went on to win the event with a 1.30 average in the final.
